December 16, 2016
Thanks to your support and that of our sponsors, 2016 has been a fantastic year and
we are looking forward to an even more exciting 2017!
We had three major events this year: Our Second annual ‘5K for K-9’s” in April, which saw
200 runners come out to Byrd Park. We had a very successful 5K and raised over $9,400
for our unit. We also had our third annual Nature’s Select Lucky Poop Raffle and third
annual Mission BBQ Cornhole Tournament. All combined, these three events raised over
$14,000 for our Richmond Police K-9 Unit. We also attended numerous dog events during
the year, selling Friends of Richmond K-9 merchandise (t-shirts, hats, logo cups, posters
and sweatshirts) to help our Officers and K’9’s.
All of our Board Members and volunteers work many long hours for no compensation to
support our nonprofit group. All monies raised go to help our Richmond Police K-9 Unit with
training and supplies not covered in the City budget. We also help our retired K-9’s with
food and medicine as well as emergency veterinarian needs.
2017 promises to be another exciting year for Friends of Richmond K-9. We will be holding
our third annual ‘ 5K for K-9’s on Saturday April 22 .We will also be having a few more exciting
events coming in 2017. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page and this website for
details. We look forward to seeing you at these events and truly appreciate your continued
On behalf of our board of directors, I thank you and wish you and your families a joyous and
